After a wet spring or a hard freeze, leaning fence posts are one of the most common problems around Paris. Clay soils hold water, frost works on shallow footings, and limestone can stop posts short of the depth they need.
What to check
- Soil washed away from the base of posts
- Posts that move when you push the top rail
- Water running along the fence line instead of away from it
- Gates that suddenly drag or will not latch
