Leaning posts are the most common fence problem around Paris after a wet spring or a hard winter. Wet clay lets posts shift, and frost heave lifts footings that were set too shallow.
When a leaning post needs attention
- The post moves when you push the top rail
- Soil has washed away from the base
- Panels or wire are pulling with the post
- A gate on the post now drags or will not latch
One or two posts can usually be reset deeper. Request an estimate if several posts along a slope are moving.
